| Florida Keys Bay Fishing |

Fishing in The Florida Keys Bay is a great way to enjoy Charter Fishing in the keys. With the shallow waters, shoals and wrecks making up the majority of angling opportunities. Five species of shark make for great light tackle action. Live baits on a kite rig are a very visual way to catch these game fish. Watching the shark speed at the surface towards a fleeing bait is very exciting! All shark fishing is catch and release, as it should be. The snapper and grouper fishing in Florida Bay can also be very good With Gag,Goliath and red grouper being the favorites. These fish are targeted with live or cut bait on the shoals ,wrecks and channels . The prized table fare of Florida Bay is the mangrove snapper. This tough customer is plentiful and readily takes live and cut bait. They are found in the tall grass surrounding the many small cayes and also on the many wrecks found in Florida Bay. The bruiser of the bay is the cobia. These fish are real bulldogs and will test your skills. Sight fishing for these fish is one of my favorite ways to catch them. Found primarily on wrecks these fish will swim right up to the boat and a live bait on a jig is just what they want. Cast right in front of one and they will almost always eat! and they are great on the grill to boot !! In march and April very large king mackerel also inhabit these wrecks and will eat a live bait readily. They will also stretch every inch of line off your reel in a second!! They are extremely fun on light tackle ,although not so good on a plate! Florida bay has a lot to offer anglers visiting the keys and is sometimes overlooked as a fishery but I can tell you from experience that the fishing in Florida Bay can be downright awesome!!
